Established in 1997, Jack of the Wood was one of downtown Asheville’s first pubs and the original home of Green Man Brewing. We serve a great selection of whiskeys, 18 rotating taps featuring local & international craft brews, and an award-winning menu of comfort food favorites & elevated pub fare. Known for our live music showcases, we host our long-running Old-Time Jam Wednesday evenings & our Bluegrass Jam Thursday nights, touring bands Friday & Saturday nights, Bluegrass Brunch Saturdays & Sundays, and our traditional Irish sessions Sunday afternoons & evenings.

@jackofthewood is proud to welcome local legends THE SONS OF RALPH back to the RALPH LEWIS STAGE this SAT 5/11 at 9pm! It’s sure to be a heckuva homecoming! These bluegrass masters have deep mountain music roots inherited from their father, bluegrass pioneer Ralph Lewis, and honed in a lifetime of playing music together & independently, from local festivals to stages around the globe. MARTIN “MARTY” LEWIS & DON LEWIS began their musical education when they were still children and formed their first band when they “hired” Ralph away from Bill Monroe. They continued playing at local spots & events growing up & toured with their dad before pursuing successful music careers of their own. But, as Ralph famously said, the family that plays together stays together! And the mountains’ call was strong. In 2001, the boys formed The Sons of Ralph with their father and continued playing their eclectic mix of bluegrass, Cajun, country & rock together until the elder Lewis’ death in 2017. With his music in their veins, Don & Marty continue to lead the SONS into new musical territory that honors their dad’s abiding legacy. Additional “Sons” have filled out the ranks over the years, with GEORGE BUCKNER & LORI FISHER rounding out the band today. We’re so excited to kick off the weekend with Nashville’s @brotherandthehayes back at @jackofthewood tonight — FRI 5/10 — at 9pm! The Nashville-based brother & sister-fronted band is known for their authentic story-driven songwriting, influenced by swampy blues, traditional country & bluegrass. Brother (David Bingaman) and The Hayes (Jennie Hayes Kurtz) originally hail from Dallas. Growing up, Jennie sang in the choir while David taught himself to play guitar by listening to blues musicians like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Lighntin’ Hopkins.
